Cut mortise with shaper origin. Fit great works as designed. Does have slight room for error (forgiving) between base and lid holes which in nice.
Built a music box/keepsake box (Leopardwood) for my daughter’s wedding, and used this lid stay. Matches beautifully with all the other brass hardware.
Product was execellent. I was a bit disappointed with the shipping. I chose Fedx over USPS only to discover Fedx used USPS for the shipping which I paid extra for. If I had known that was the process, of course I would have paid less and went with the postal service. I thought that I would get it faster opting for Fedx. Surprise!
